Problems with Spyder3Elite - measured value outside of expected range

Problems with Spyder3Elite - measured value outside of expected range

2009-08-29 by abigfunguy

Well I was all excited getting my Spyder Studio today. I install the Spyder3Elite software, 3.0.4, that can with the unit. I used the menu option to find that there was a new version. I downloaded 3.1.1 and installed it. Started to go though a basic calibration and when it gets to the green box to test it fails with the error: measured value outside of expected range (0.265,0.494) and then goes to the congratulation screen let's save your profile. Even though I haven't even done a calibration :)

I had been using an older Monaco Optix that didn't give me much trouble other than being old and no longer being updated.

I generally only have the weekend to play with this type of thing and I'm trying to figure out if I have defective product.

Thanks for any help,

Ken

One thing I'd recommend: get the latest software; you can
download the 3.1.1 installer for Spyder3Elite from the
main Datacolor site (you're several versions behind...!)

David,

If you re-read my message that was the first thing I did was use the menu option to find out there was a new option. I did install 3.1.1 over 3.0.4. I never calibrated with 3.0.4 but I did install it from the original CDs.

I did also post on dbpreview with the same question. I'm just frustrated that I can't get this going. I have the time on the weekend and not so much during the week. Also I just found out today that a new version is being released and I have had mine a whole day :) With all the reading I do I'm surprised I did see news about this before.

Thank so much for taking the time in trying to help out. I give ya a big thumbs up for answering any question on the weekend !!

Now any other ideas I can try ??

Ken

My fault, for skimming your first post too quickly!

I'm not sure what the problem is, and printer profiling
is what I work on, but if you can open a support ticket
about this on the Datacolor system to get an official
question started about it, email me off-list at
dmiller@... and I'll make an effort to get
the developer of the Elite software to look into this
over the weekend, if he can.

What happens if you use the hardware control(s) on the
display to lower the brightness, before you start
going through the calibration sequence?
