Tips on profiling smaller sized paper?

Tips on profiling smaller sized paper?

2008-01-18 by ifoo2k

Is there any way to generate the targets (i.e. 225 patch target) across
several sheets of 4"x6" instead of on a single letter sized sheet?
Basically I want larger individual patch sizes spread across more
sheets.

The reason being that my final paper is 4x6 and I don't want to profile
a different batch of paper or have to buy a pack of letter sized when I
could just spread the targets across four 4x6 sheets...

Ideas?

There are 4x6 targets included in the target folder within PrintFIX PRO/Spyder3Print. You need to open them and print all four from Photoshop or some other application color managed. They are then recombined, once printed, to form a single page 8x10 225 patch target for reading.

Wow! I just did that after your reply. Turned out perfect. You
guys are great!

I would recommend updating the online help files to indicate this. I
read through the targets section and it didn't mention the smaller
4x6 target options.

Thanks again!

I just started using Spyder3Print and have to say that you guys have
developed a great product at a very reasonable price.

One question on "color managed". How do I set the color management
settings in Photoshop and the printer driver to do this. I am assuming
that I choose the media type in the driver and turn color management
off it it. From past comments I think I would set, in Photoshop, the
renedering intent to saturation with black point compensation set on
but what profile would I use? Or do I turn color management off in
BOTH the printer amd in Photoshop?

Thanks,
Rollin

There are directions with illustrations in the Spyder3Print/PrintFIX PRO help. But yes, to print the targets you turn off color management in the driver, and in Photoshop (though the wording varies with differing versions of Photoshop: Same as Source, No Color Management, whatever...
