Tell us, numerically, what wildly inconsistant means. Calibrate your  
spectro while holding it down FIRMLY on the white tile, then use the  
menu's measure command to repeatedly remeasure the white tile, and  
saving a log. View the Lab values in the log, and if they vary more  
than a unit or so, send them to me for review.
