I just got a mac book pro. Have been using PrintFix Pro on my PC and have lots of profiles
made.
Have a couple of questions:
1. How do I get the program loaded on my Mac? or should I?
Definately load it on your Mac. Download the latest Spyder3 print Mac version from our website, and install it with the same serial number you used for Windows.
I never upgraded when the updates came out in October. I thought I'd be getting the new
computer right away (took a bit longer than expected) so I didn't want to play around until
I switched. I do remember that you had to uninstall the original version first before
upgrading. So I need the most recent version then.
Won't be an issue with a new Mac, just find your serial number on the original software sleeve before starting.
2. Will my print profiles still work or do I have to redo them?
That depends on whether the Mac printer driver for your printer prints identically to the Windows printer driver. If so, you can copy your profiles to your Mac's ColorSync folder, and off you go. If not, you need to build new profiles for each paper. But Spyder3Print v3.5 Public Beta, now on the website, will at least make this process faster, and less effort, than the last time around.
I'm finding out that this migration isn't as painless as I was lead to believe it would be!
No matter what system you are used to, a change is a change. But I find that users who add a Mac to their mix end up migrating most if not all of their work to the Mac once they have gotten used to it. So give yourself some time.
But
I got tired of Photoshop crashing my pc all the time and needed more memory and hard
drive space anyway. It's just taking longer than expected to get everything set up the way I
need it.
That would be true even if you had bought a new Vista machine...
3. Right now I'm using the mac book pro screen, can you calibrate that or should I? I did a
test print on my Epson 7800 and the color is obviously way off.
Definately profile your MacBookPro screen... as well as your 7800!
