Chroma Polaris Ribbons

Chroma Polaris Ribbons

2014-05-08 by <lukas.switlicki@...>

Maybe I should ask a techy, but this group seems informed so why not.

The bottom row of my right membrane panel ( the last row of preset buttons) doesn't respond anymore, and currently I'm trying to permanently repair and strengthen the ribbon cables.

I want to figure out which cable is the faulty one though, are the two ribbons on the right side (at the bottom of the right panel) the one's responsible for controlling the preset buttons, or is it the two ribbons coming in and entering from the left side? If there are any technicians or DIYers that know the answer I'd really appreciate it.

Both tails are involved; one has the row connections and the other has the
column connections. The panels were made out of some material other than
real Mylar, which turned out to harden and crack over the years. The
solution is to replace the panels. I sell replacement panels, which many
people on this list have installed. Contact me off list, and give me your
address for a quote. You can see the replacement process here:

And for what it's worth I am one such person who can vouch for how awesome the replacement panels are. Take the plunge and you probably won't have to worry about your Polaris panels again in your lifetime . . . (unless you're currently a teenager, in which case probably not until very old age - if even then).

I replaced mine as well.   Definitely a good idea.
