Power to a DC Mixer (CGS04 v2.2)

Power to a DC Mixer (CGS04 v2.2)

2016-03-05 by nugzali

Can anyone tell me if I can use a Boss Style Power Supply (9v 0.5A 4.5W, center neg.) to power the Cat Girl Synth - DC Mixer (CGS04 v2.2)?

negative into VE- on board

positive into VE+ on board

Thanks, NA

It needs to have a split output - +, GND and -. That's 3 wires. 99% of adapters have only two wires. If you find an adapter with an AC OUTPUT of 18V, you can use the CGS66 power supply to convert the voltage from the adapter to something usable by the mixer and other CGS designs. For just the mixer, an output of 100ma is quite adequate. 5A is overkill.

Thanks, What would you suggest for a stand alone stomp-box style mixer?

Something like this?
12V 5A AC Power Adapter / Brick

No,

You need a dual rail supply (+ve and -ve and 0V) so you need to look at adding something like the CGS14 or CGS66. Overkill for just a CGS04.
If you don't mind changing batteries then you can run it off 2x 9V batteries as it will work down to around +/-6V.

Thanks for the quick response and good advice. I am reluctant to build my own power supply so I have been looking to purchase an assembled power supply for a small euro rack system. Ultimately I plan on having a series of CGS04 mixers and need power for ~1-12. I'll get one working first and add them as need arises.

This would do the trick, right?
