Thanks Graham for the useful information !
I have been after this cable for ages as well :)
I concur, it sure would be nice to find a working one because of the transfer speed to and from the PC -
You are right though, I have also heard of the risk to the FZ with an incorrect cable
I will thoroughly check the cable pins first THEN plug the FZ if they are correct -
I hope to be able to do so in a couple of months, I will pay Biggi a visit in spring (she lives 650Kms from where I live, that's okay)
And of course we will tell you soon thereafter
And thanks for this wonderful group, it's a joy to see there are active casio gear fans still around
Cheers Graham,
Joscelyn

FZ-1 cable - CORRECTION - you need a male to female cable. Just checked!

If Biggi actually has a working cable, then maybe you can confirm these pinouts.

Re: [casiocollectors] Re: Casio DZ drum kit/FZ-1 cable

Hi again Graham,

Just thinking about that cable :
so the FZ to PC cable is male / female
perhaps the other one (male/male) could be used for FZ to FZ direct transfers ?
Cheers,
Joscelyn

FZ-1 cable - CORRECTION - you need a male to female cable. Just checked!

Re: Casio DZ drum kit/FZ-1 cable

2013-01-29 by Graham

Yes I was thinking about this also, and I think you are correct - the male/male one is for dumping to another FZ, since they will both have the same port gender on the back of each! So the male/female is for PC dumping.

I just uploaded the FZ Dump program that goes with this cable...2 different versions actually...reading the txt file that comes with it, it says it is supposed to work only under DOS (ie only Windows 95 or before). I take it the one named FZDump95 is the later version written for win95, the other one must be for win 3.1/MSDOS. I have run the win95 one on my Win98 machine, and it runs, but never tested the connection - it possibly wont actually connect under win98, since it needs DOS - see some of the other information files I uploaded with it in the files section. I wish it could be written for XP....if this thing can be got to work, I think it would be the great FZ Holy Grail to free us from floppy disks.

cheers, Graham
