Hello All

2013-01-29 by dr_this_n_that

I have been collecting casio's since early 80's [and other non-pro equip.]
my first electronic keyboard [I'd had air organs only till this] was a yamaha MK-100
handed down from an uncle. Next my dad gave me a concertmate equiv. to an sk5
and I was loving life. well after that -I would just find mostly casio -at tag/stoop sales
a swap meet/ flea markets. I would usually find these keyboard for 5-10$ u.s. [still do -
and even 50ยข some times]. I have always loved the challenge ov the limitation associated
with casio's -and working with underdogs -and things people think are trash. As time
passed I just fell in love with casio -due to how weird they were -and how casio themselves
would give you a bit in one board -and another bit in something else. Now don't get me wrong -
I would LOVE to own the professional models -yet I've not the money for it -and the joy
ov finding keyboards for under 20$ -even ones that sell on ebay for more than 100$
brings me the most joy and satisfaction.

I did just score a DG20 for 35$ u.s. -and that was on the steep side for me -yet I could
not pass such a deal -and have ALWAYS wanted on.

I have oodles ov toy keyboards [been a collector ov all things keyboard -since 5] and not
a very good guitar player -so this DG is I think the best for me.

I plan on doing what I can to it -and then adding tons ov internal fx [so that when not midi'd
I can still have a weird sound from it.

That get's me to the bending bit. I have a few bent casios -yet I love keeping them stock
and just using effects. I build some lo-tech stuff -which include voice changers -amps -
pedal fx [removed and put inside the keyboards] -all chained up -to make new sounds.

I did just get a WK1630 for free the other day. I was told it doesn't work -yet it doesn't
smell burnt -so I am hopeful that like several other WK's I have [that I got for under15$]
that where supposedly "not working" -will switch right up. figuring the reason I have been
told these KB's don't work -is due to the reverse polarity casio used [another reason to lovem'].
Not that I like the RP -yet I love how so many just don't know this -and I score stuff so
next to nothing -and sometimes like this time -FREE!!!!

I do have a question after this long rant -sorry bout' that -I'm just glad to be here
and my sites been down for a year -yet when I get it up and running again. My ranting
and FULL story will be there to read. -though I am ALWAYS happy to answer anything
someone might want to know.

If this WK doesn't work -and the powersuply is fried -or something -are there good bits
in there -that can be used in other casio's?

I guess that's it for now. I would just like to thank Gram for this group -I am so honored
to be amongst such talent -and friendly people.

-cheers all
