Re: Casio FZ-1 memory upgrade

Well, you can actually expand it to 4MB:

I've uploaded the instructions to the files section here. They aren't very thorough though. I did speak to another guy on a forum somewhere who also tried it and had success. The preferred way to do it is to get one of the 1MB expansion boards (Casio MB-1) and expand it to 3MB using the expansion technique - that way the FZ-1 is minimally butchered.

But rather than build your own 1MB board as you were planning, why don't you just buy one? There's 2 on ebay at the moment for around $100, and I can guarantee that it will cost you nearly that much in parts to make it. Better spending that money on the components to turn the expansion board into 3MB

Cheers, Graham

So I was thinking if someone here might have build their own 1MB expansion board and what types of DRAM they had success with. I'd hate to find that once I go out and buy a 1Mx16 DRAM (or an ensemble of smaller DRAMs that give the same configuration when suitably combined) that there are problems, e.g. with timing, logic levels or supply voltages.
