New member - BCF2000 with DW-8000

Hello,

My name is Lou and I'm a new member. Thank you for for the fantastic resource and all the hard work everyone has put into it.

I recently purchased a Korg DW-8000 and was in the market for a BCR2000 to control it. This morning, however, I found a BCF 2000 at a flea market for $35! I realize that the rotary BCR has been mapped/programmed to work with the DW-8000, but what do I have to do to get the BCF to work? Is there a sysex template I can edit referencing the existing BCR .syx file for the messages that need to be sent for each parameter?

Ideally I would like to send the right messages to the BCF2000 and then not have it connected to a computer again. What editor/program do you suggest I use?

What I have:

DW-8000 synth

BCF2000 controller

Motu micro lite midi interface

Macbook Pro running OS 10.7

2013 iMac running Windows 7 in Bootcamp

Thank you again for all the help!

Lou

Hi Lou,
Start by deciding what each of the faders and the 2 rows of buttons above them should control on the DW8k

Note that a button can be on/off OR incremental (eg 1,2,3,4,5,0,1,2... ) it's up to you.
The 8 encoders, with a built in button, can really be 32 encoders using the group buttons on the top right under the display.

Now you know what you want each of the controls to do get Mark's excellent editor (works for BCR and BCF) and a copy of someones else's DW8K patch.
Load the patch into the editor and see how it works and use that info and the sysex info at the back of the manual to set up the patch just how you want.

Post your questions here or on Mark's forum Forums | Mountain Utilities

and we'll see if we can sort them out for you.

All the best
Royce

Thank you Royce! I downloaded BC manager and tried to fumble my way through. Looks like I'm gonna have to read the manual! Thank you for your help. What a great community.
