That's good news.

Anyone with Windows 7 32bit can confirm this ?

Regards

I suppose that by "integrated" you mean that Win 7 assigns a standard USB driver to the BCF/BCR when you turn the unit on.
However, that's the case in XP and Vista too.

So what are these "automatic" USB MIDI ports actually called under Windows 7 when you access them from a MIDI application (Sonar, Cubase, BC Manager, whatever)?
If it's "USB Audio Device", the Windows 7 driver is probably just an upgrade of the XP and Vista drivers of the same name.

However, as explained in BC Manager's manual (section 4, point 4), these default "USB Audio Device" drivers (at least the XP and Vista versions) have a few serious drawbacks, which is why I recommend using a Behringer USB driver instead.

So an interesting question is whether these Behringer USB drivers work under Windows 7.
Under Vista their installation is already slightly problematic in the sense that you have to set the installer's "compatibility mode" (again, see the BC Manager manual for details), but once installed, the Behringer drivers work fine under Vista (at least the 32-bit version).

Mark.

Hi !

They don't work under 64 bit OS's and the generic drivers installed by Vista
and 7 are NOT multiclient, as opposed to the Behringer driver. It becomes a
problem when the BCF/R has to communicate with more than one app (like, for
instance, Cubase plus the BCFViewer when using a BCF in MC emulation). I got
around the problem by using it via MIDI cables with my e-mu 1212m soundcard,
as it has multiclient MIDI drivers.

Cheers.
Jay

Just to be sure: by "they" you mean the Behringer drivers?

If the Behringer drivers indeed won't install on 64-bit operating systems (not even under "compatibility mode" etc.), then it might be time to start nagging Behringer about providing a 'native' BCF/BCR driver for 64-bit operating systems.
Having to use "compatibility mode" for installation under a 32-bit Vista is bad enough, but if the Behringer drivers don't work at all under 64-bit operating systems, how dare Behringer even sell any BCF/BCR2000s nowadays?

Yes, that's what I found too (at least for 32-bit XP and Vista),
hence these horribly confusing "USB Audio Device" names with numbers appended.
Incidentally, this also confirms my suspicion that the Windows 7 version of "USB Audio Device" isn't much different from the XP and Vista versions.

So it seems both Behringer and Microsoft haven't been doing their "homework" lately...

Mark.

Yes, I do.

It seems they do not intend to provide any, according to their knowledge
base.

Even the beta drivers that were issued for Vistaare only Vista-32
compatible. That sucks, I agree. But, considering the really poor
developement subsequent to the release of emulation modes, I understand.

Cheers.
