Worst MIDI Timing ever...

Worst MIDI Timing ever...

2009-07-29 by swamobot

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to set my BCR-2000 up as a MIDI Interface, because my Pulsar is broken :(

now I'm encountering the problem, that if I send straight 16th notes to my synthie, it does a random shuffle effect. It' like I programmed something like vocal house, but I swear I didnt :)

I'm using a IBM ThinkPad running XP Professional and Ableton Live 8. The BCR is the only USB Device connected.
You only notice slight glitches, sometimes it forgets to play a note, it's not working.
Even If I only play one pattern and leave the Computer by itself, it randomly happens.

So, if anyone has any suggestions, it would be nice to hear from you :)

cheers
greg

Hey Greg.

Was the MIDI timing functioning fine with the pulsar and Live V8 before?

Reason I ask is Live has some of the worst MIDI timing issues. Flakey
MIDI clock and dropped notes etc. What you've stated above is very
common when using Live for outboard MIDI work regardless of the
interface you are using.

Cheers

hi,

thanks for your fast reply. I didn't notice this effect when I was using my pulsar. Ihave to buy a new one anyway, because the flexibility is awesome, but until I get that I need to play my synths :)

I'm gonna try Cubase out tomorrow to see if it's better.

greetings
greg

Hi greg ,

Are you talking about Creamware Pulsar ?

I have one sitting for a long time in my storage and the Electra and the cable for joining them..

I would sell them .. I dont use them and would be happy that somebody uses them again ...I even bought the modular for electra.

Please contact off list rastkolazic(at)gmail.com

It is strange that live has such a bad clock..anyways I am now looking for a tape recorder :-) my comp died .. my laptop is dying and i am not buying more computers ..

yours

rastko

Re: Worst MIDI Timing ever...

Hello everyone,

Thanx for helping me out. I rearranged my old Music computer without my creamware Card, and now getting MIDI out with my old Terratec.

No more glitches...
But still, how can anyone play Live with Live? I wouldn't miss my Airbase and my pulse on Live occasions, but with that MIDI Timing it's impossible...

cheers
greg
