Help running BCR2000 with Reason 4.0?

2009-05-06 by Matt

Hello,

Just got a BCR2000, and I'm connecting it via USB on U-1. It scans without a problem on Reason 4.0, and I can control parameters in the software. I'm running: Power Mac G5 Tiger 10.4.11 OSX ... Also have Pro Tools / Firewire MBox 2 Pro connected, if that makes a difference.

Problem is, the second Reason connects to the BCR, it automatically loads a preset onto it that maps the editing buttons (Store, Edit, Learn, Exit, Preset, etc.) to the Transport... so I can't map anything or switch presets, because buttons become record/play/stop/ff/rw/etc.

I've tried the (bugged?) Behringer BCR software mapping software for Reason presets (can't figure it out)... Tried turning BCR on before and after opening Reason... Tried loading a SysEx via the Librarian program... But to be honest, I am new to this and a bit lost.

If anyone can help me, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Matt

I'm afraid that Reason 4 take over full kontrol over your bcr2000 via:
Codecs/behrinegr.remote or something likie that (i am on PC so I don't know how it looks on Mac). If you remove temporary that file maybe you can use Behringer default presets, but why doing that?

Have you tried with "Remote override edit mode" under menu "options". That sounds like more direct option and without messing with Props default files. As I see. You can go into Remote override edit mode click on transport and edit (yellow circles) commands for play, rec etc...

Hope It helps

Thank you for advice; I tried that, but still no luck. The default BCR coding re-loads after I delete it.

In remote override mode, I can't seem to clear the mapping for the BCR's basic edit buttons. It's as if it disregards the BCR's preset scrolling, encoder groups, Learn button, etc.

I suppose I can from here-on-out work with a BCR-mapped template file... Doesn't make sense to me why it does this though. This kills the possibility of loading various presets or quickly reassigning/learning new knobs.

Matt

I Looked in "additional remote overrides" too. But still you can't acces to buttons like preset or change presets. I don't understand why they done it this way. In version 3 I could use presets to use full reason mixer, even two, Behringers presets etc... Now I must use props solutions. That is not always bad, but I still can't understand why we cant acces bcr2000 controls if we can override ordinary controls.

I'll try with this questions on Propellerheads forums.

Please inform me if you find some soulutions for better control. Ill do likewise.

Hello Again Matt,

I see that you are on props forum too and no luck. Only new thing I can say that I just discovered that in Reason 4 you can change presets but you can't see that on bcr's LED of some reason. I have first eigt sliders on Reason mixer in preset 15 an secon eight on preset 16 and when I change preset from 15 to 16 i actually move from first eight to seconf eight. reason doesn't doing that but my presets.

I don't know if this means something to you but it is undocumented anyway.

Good luck
C.

Hi there !

Same thing for me. I have both bcr2000 and bcf2000 and reason 4 on mac os.

bcf2000 can change presets but like mentionned before it doesn't disply on the screen

bcr2000: impossible de change presets, everything is set by reason ( so frustating !

Is it a bug ? an option...

Thank you for helping
