Mixers in Cubase

Mixers in Cubase

2009-01-18 by colinp2001

Hi all, I'm using Cubase SX3 and one BCF in Mackie mode, I would like
to make use of the 3 mixers in Cubase, for example set one up for
Drums, one for Guitars and bass and the 3rd for VSTs.

Is it possible to call up each mixer and when active use the BCF for
that mixer alone, mixer one is ok but when I use mixer 2 the BCF only
controls the last couple of channels.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Colin

If you use Mackie emulation mode with Cubase SX3 it will jump to the
way you have a mixer setup. I use different workspaces for different
purposes with different mixer setups and when you jump to them (alt 1,
alt 2, etc.) the BCF jumps to how the mixer is setup, the first 8
strips on the left.

Thanks very much, I arrived at the same conclusion just before I read
your mail.

The mistake I was making was to use the main mixer, mixer 2 and 3,
these don't work in quite the same way they seem to just be a
different view of the main mixer and the BCF controls the tracks that
you have you have hidden in mixer 2 and 3 if they are not hidden in
the main mixer.

I now just use the main mixer with different setups in different
workspaces, I can recall the workspace from the BCR and control the
track with the BCF. Perfect!

Cheers

How do you change workspaces from BCF? Is that in the Mackie emulation?

Thanks

In the Mackie mode there are 8 buttons (F1 - F8), that can be assigned
to various commands within Cubendo's device manager.

I forgot the 2 footswitch plugs, which can be assigned, too...

You don't need to use the other views if you save the main mixer to differant views then swap from there. Say you have tracks with a normal drum kit, a bass plus keys, and 2 guitars. In mixer one click the hide channels for the bass keys and guitars. Then save the view as "drums". Next click to "show all set hidden" (something like that) and hide the drum tracks unhide the bass and keys, click hide tracks set to hidden and save as "bass". Do the same for the guitars view. Now assign a button to toggle the mixer views and you should be good. I found the Mackie mode does this for it's view key it uses the saved views like "view 1" , "View 2" etc.
