Black hammond P3 cases Idea

Black hammond P3 cases Idea

2003-12-08 by digitana2002

Hi again ..just a thought..those who lust after the Black Hammond P3
cases (see Amanda's in the photo section) but dont want to go
through the cost of buying two sets of cases (the black+ blue case
without walnut endcheeks and the offwhite+ black cases with walnut
endcheeks and then swapping over top panels)..one possibility is
that I can add some wooden endcheeks (Iroko or Teak or similar )
to a black + blue Hammond case. The bottom would still be blue but
that isnt visible at all unless you flip the case over. The wooden
cheeks would be very straightforward to make ( I have woodworking
skills) and they could be fixed to the sides in the exact same
manner as the commercial walnut ended hammond cases...by two
screws :-) The additional cost shouldnt be much either...unles you
want wood from the afromosia tree..(not sure thats legal anymore?)
Anyone interested?

cheers
steve

Hi Robert..well the engraving/routing work will be £30 as I
mentioned.
The wooden cheeks wouldnt be around £8 on top of that I should
imagine. So thats £38 + the case cost. The case price will depend
on what the current price that Onboard Electronics is charging.

cheers
steve

Again, very interesting. But I'm still in doubt. ;)
I also agree with Colin about the placing of the keypad.
Hmm...

What would the total costs be? The price for the case, your
work on the case and the wooden cheeks?

Sounds nice Steve.
I'll check out their site (assuming they have one) to find
the price for the case.

It's either this or a MOTM style panel. I will contact the
Stooges to see if they can help me with that, and what
they're charging for a Stooged P3 panel.

Found the site, but no price. Could anyone give me an
estimate of the Hammond case price?
