So just to get my head around this (i've been skimming the manual, but haven't really got my head around this sort of part) - can you have the 'mixer' page open at the same time as changing parts/patterns etc? That would indeed make an external box redundant... as long as you can freely assign CC's, as you say there's an issue with controlling your octatrack.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
