Analogue-sequencer

Hi Colin

so the intention is that P4 will have a physical interface that normal humans can understand, including a bigger display, and I can sequence modules, midi controlled fx, a drum synth, a modular and my moogermooger pedals all from the same box...  (16 or 32 tracks?) I imagine recording all this output as midi and audio to my MPC4000 or Ableton Live and then constructing the actual songs there. And I guess, plus something like usb or a SD card to back everything up, wow... 

assuming a better display, it would be nice to be able to label individual tracks so we know what is going where. and if this were possible I would love it if the a usb port could also recognise a QWERTY keyboard, this is a heck of a lot nicer than scrolling around the alphabet to keep everything labelled up... I wish EVERY synth and module had this

....but please make sure you miss something important that is on the P3 so that my P3 will keep its currently grossly exaggerated value... :)

oh  wait, but then I  wouldn't want to want to sell it,

  I mean to include percussion programming in P4, so that percussion patterns
  are integrated into the same parts as note patterns, or at least changes in
  percussion patterns can be tightly sychronised with changes in the note

  I did some research a while back into the audibility of MIDI delays, and
  found the minimum times that can actually be perceived to be less than I
  thought.
  Very short delays that can't be heard in isolation as rhythmic changes can
  be heard as timbral changes where sounds are layered - most notably with
  percussion sounds.
  So the plan is for P4 to include native CV outputs.
  In order to make it as flexible as possible, this will likely be on a
  daughter-board connected to the main CPU by a very high-speed synchronous
  connection.
  That way there would be the option to have multiple note/velocity/aux/gate
  CV outs for synths, or multiple accent/trig outputs to drive drum sounds.
