the LEDs only showed the startup sequence with the red flashes after
pressing boot after a 'bad chksum'/'boot flash' screen..

i can get a firmware update in, if it's supposed to end in a
boot/flash screen. it's just occassionally after an update (i upload
one regularly, just to make sure everything's still working) that i
get a black line. i also get one during the uploading of the
firmware, but i think that's just data moving through the LCD too
fast to be displayed properly.

sorry, i only just got in and i'm just going to make a bit of noise
before i go to bed..you're right though; it would be easier with more
direct communication. i think i'll be around tomorrow evening, and
the new ds1210 should also be in then. are you on icq? or the Yahoo
chat thing of course...
