Hi !
Not clear what your issue really is, - but have in mind, the S1000 / S1100
series can only address up to 520MB of HD space.
So, much larger drives dont make sense at all !
I myself, I have the original IB-103 boards in my Akai S-1000, S-1100 and
S-1000PB and a 1GB HD in a Synthax Syndrive, - works, but there are used
500MB only.
I have a 2nd 1GB HD in a Mac enclosure, works too up to 500MB ...
S-1000 is SCSI ID 6
O.S. 4.4 has nothing to do w/ your issue.
Take care of the jumpers of your harddrives !!!
If you have any combination w/ CD-ROM drive and HDs in one enclosure, you
have to take care for whats master, slave and terminate only the very last
machine in the chain.
If theres termination switchable at the enclosure itself or w/ a
termination-plug, - check if termination is also being jumpered at the HD
itself, this might be the fault.
Dont use more than one S-1000 / S-1100 in a SCSI chain.

Subject: [akaiS1000S1100Samplers] S1000 and the SCSI interface
I have tried a 2.1GB hard drive, a 4Gb hard
drive and a CDROM drive. All of them just report the message "disk
drive not ready" I have tried all the combinations of SCSI channel
numbers that I can, upgraded to OS 4.4 ( does anyone know what
differences are between version 2.1 and 4.4?)tried internal leads,
external leads, Terminated at both ends etc.......but no joy.
I am getting a good pile of SCSI drives now, shame they don't work with
the S1000. The SCSI card may be third party as it does not say IB-103
on it, but this is the one that came with the machine. can anyone help?
