Great! Thanks for the help. Can't wait to get home and try it. After trying windows 98 2000 and xp not having any joy this seems like a logical and hopefull solution. 
For the group I will reply with a result

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
