Gilles,

Just some answers - I hope that other members can help you with the rest:

- knob: you can easily find other knobs in a more specialised
electronics shop - its just difficult to find one with the same
diameter & height. You can even buy it online because it uses an
industry standard. You can also use one of an old stereo set. I have
an old dual amplifier/receiver & it fits - or just make a wooden one &
paint it.

- floppy: it seems that your floppy drive has problems. You'll find
several messages in this newsgroup about this. Another option is to
change the rom, that saves on time when you start your sampler. I just
added a link (commercial section) to a small US based company that
provides these roms (route66 studios). I dont have any experience with
these guys but they are not expensive. If you know someone with an
eprom burner: the rom images are now in the files section.

- scsi: its an old discussion: please try to find the messages. I
know that the S1100 has an extra power supply connector for an
internal HD - but I'm not sure about the S1000. Secondly, check your
scsi card - not all cards have an internal scsi slot. That means that
you better leave your scsi card where it is because you'll need it.

There are no brackets for an internal HD if you dont have the special
HD version. You can drill 2 or 4 holes in the top lid of the case,
depending on the orientation of the HD.

Please dont stop sending questions. If you made some progress, you can
always send some pictures, experiences etc...

Thanks for providing the akai S1100 manual - I'll put it online as
soon as I can scan it in.

Rgds,
Frank
