I Hope this helps; Your description suggests this...

Over one knob to the right of the INDEX CV Knob,
is the LIN FM attenuation Knob which is probably open...
(The dotted line between Dynamic Inputs-and-the LIN FM knob
indicates that the LIN FM knob controls the amount
of Dynamic Input bleed, into the Index input side of the balanced
modulator. 

Remember that the MOD Out, is just the other side of the four
quadrant multiplier based on the ~inputs~ to the Zeroscillator.
Mod Out is just a ring modulator, while the unique FM capabilities
of the mighty ZO are of course based on the ~outputs~ of the
Zeroscillator core itself. 

Devilish things aren't they?
