Re: [Simmons Drums] Re: still Unreal ...

Well interesting point of view...
I'm not an electronician myself so I need to understand...

What about when the condensators are dead or progressively faulty ?
don't they involve other componants damages & breakdowns by not regulating anymore tensions ?

Shouldn't we at least be really aware about old power supply condensators ?

Patrice.

"Re-capping" is a great way to wreck your gear. Don't do it. If it has a fault, change only the faulty parts. Every time someone brings me something that's been "re-capped", it's because it's got a fault it didn't have to begin with.

I've written off too much nice old gear because of this obsession with failing electrolytics. In 25 years of repairing all sorts of electronic equipment I've changed maybe half a dozen electrolytics - and hundreds of disc ceramics!
