I changed the battery in my SDS7 not long after I got it, about five 
years ago.  I used the backup battery from an old Mac Plus I had kicking 
about, just soldered leads to it and hot-melt glued it onto the board.

Still seems fine.  I must get round to making some pads for it - I made 
one pad and a bass drum trigger, for which I bought a pedal.  What I 
need now is a copy of the owner's manual, and a readable copy of the 
workshop manual.

If anyone can tell me how to get the Jigsaw mode working, I'd love to know.
