Re: [Simmons Drums] Hello everyone

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply. Heh heh, I saw the angry American bloke's yellow pad post! Very amusing!!

I keep a keen eye on Ebay and stuff does go quite reasonably. It's just timing it right!! So I guess I'll need to checking it out. I am interested in the SDE module you have (if that's what you meant). How much would you like for it?

Thanks again,

Andy

Subject: [Simmons Drums] Hello everyone

Hi,

Discovered this group after a trawl of the net and thought I better
join.

Reason I'm here? Well, I used to own a Simmons kit (though I can't
remember which one) many years ago (early 80s). It got stolen
unfortunately. Always wanted another one since. Well, my eldest boy
is learning drums so I was going to build him an electronic kit for
silent practice at home (I have a Roland TD6 module and a set of
DDrum triggers and as I build custom drums I thought this would be a
good plan). Then I saw an SDS100 on Ebay and snapped it up. I've
cleaned up the pads - resprayed and laquered the plastic and now just
about to start sorting the rack out. Again, it needs re-spraying and
lacquering. But we're getting there. I've also just scored a SPM,
again on Ebay.

What I'm thinking now is off-loading the Roland module and set of
triggers and keeping it all Simmons. But, I believe Simmons made a
unit for triggering cymbal sounds? Is this true? If so, can anyone
provide me further info? Also, despite trying I can't locate a SDE
and MTX-9 expansion module. I've seen a couple in the States but they
do not ship outside the US. Anyone know where I can locate one? Also
would like to add a couple of pads to the whole set up so if anyone
has anything available I'd be pleased to hear from you.

Sorry for such a long post! Didn't mean to bore anyone on my first
time! Heh heh.....
