Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

I recently sold my SDX, but I also had an external SyQuest SCSI drive,
which used 270mb cartidges. The SDX recognized it immediately when it
was attached to the SCSI port on the back. I used the external drive
to back up my most-used kits and could load them all from that one
drive. The op system was on the internal SCSI drive, though.

You can't really partition a SCSI drive for the SDX, since the
operating system only recognizes 70mb (remember, that was HUGE for the
late 1980s). But I had the op system and lots of sounds on that one
drive well before adding the external SCSI drive.

Those SyQuest drives are CHEAP, work well, and I see them on EBay all
the time.

If you have the op system disc, perhaps you just need to reload it.
