Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Hello All,

Being a Big fan of Genesis and Phil's work and having the luck to 
have visited there studios apon invite I'll tell you what I know.

The Simmons stuff used by the Keyboards during the IT tour was only 
used for the song TONIGHT,TONIGHT,TONIGHT judging from the sounds 
produced it sounds like the MTX 9, and if you have the DVD the tour 
programme is on there and it gives you some idea as to what they 
used although its not fully acurate.

There is also a Genesis Videos DVD out now, and in that you can see 
the Simmons stuff being used on, Home By the Sea, Invisible Touch, 
and Tonight Tonight Tonight.

On the 1992 tour Phil was just using his Simmons equipment to 
trigger sounds as he openly admits on his own website.

Genesis have an official website at, www.genesis-music.com and Phil 
at www.philcollins.co.uk I must add that Phil does reply to 
questions on there quite a bit.

Phil went on to own the Simmons SDX, Genesis and Phil had an EBAY 
auction in 2001 and they sold some of the spares, Alot of Phil's 
spare Simmons stuff went for sale then. Although his personal 
assistant assures me and also the Guy who bought alot of Phil's 
alledged Simmons stuff that, Phil's simmons gear is with Phil in 
Geneva.

There was a nice Photo of Phil at the helm of an Simmons SDVS on the 
net sadly due to a reformat its lot from my pc taken around about 
1984.....

There is also the MAMA tour video out there which shows Phil with a 
Simmons kit, this has yet to be remastered and put on to DVD.

I do hope this helps some of you.

Also on the IT tour DVD, watch out for " The Brazillian " Simmons 
used alot on that song.
