Vintage Simmons Drums (UK) Users Group

Actually, there were no true "factory" presets for the SDS7.  I used to 
have all my Simmons gear worked on by an ex-Simmons tech (before I lost 
contact with him) and had asked him to restore my SDS7's factory 
presets when a battery went out.  He informed me that each 7 was 
slightly different from the next (hardware wise) and they found it 
almost impossible to make universal presets that would sound good in 
every unit.  I have two SDS7's with the Memory cartridge and have tried 
swapping presets and I always have to tweak them to get the sound 
right.  I wish I had better news for you, but that's my understanding 
of how the preset thing was handled.
