That's interesting .. I had a feeling I.T. might be SDS-7. There's something about the sound that doesn't seem possible to get with the SDSV. It just seems a little more complex than what you can get with the SDSV's relatively basic tools. But I had also read that he used both SDSV and SDS-7 on that album. I actually picked up the Wembley DVD last week. I haven't looked too close yet, but I did notice the SDS-7 pads by the keyboards (looks like a Linndrum stacked by them also). Looks like Phil's main set was mostly SDSV pads with a few SDS-7 for triggering other sounds (i.e. it seemed like he mainly used the SDSVs for the edrum sound). How likely is it to find an SDS-7 with original EPROMs/samples? Is it even likely that you can get the same sound as a record that used the SDS-7? Seems like with all the custom EPROMs that were made, you probably couldn't .. which would take some of the fun out of it for me (I like buying gear to play along with records I like). guybrush > HI & welcome guybrush ! > > What I can hear from the Single "Invisible Touch" is definitely an SDS7 ! > it sounds more dry than an SDSV ... > & maybe the SDSV for the white noise ... > > On the "wembley" gig from 86, if you have some good eyes, you can see two SDS7's brains on stage + one SDSV with pads (close to Phil's Grestch acoustic drums...) > > The drummer is trigging an SDS7 from the acoustc drums (probably via an MTM ), & Phil is have an SDS7 & pads close to Tony Banks keyboards set. > > sorry never heard the SDS9 with Phil's Colins( from what I know ....) , but the 9 can sound close to the V sometimes.... so ... > > Domino is a mixing of SDS7 ( reverse cymbals ) & SDSV (tomtom fill & some, symbals too)... > > Get the Wembley DVD it becomes clear ! > Bye, > Patrice.. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: guybrush03 > To: Simmons_Drums@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Tuesday, April 26, 2005 8:28 AM > Subject: [Simmons Drums] New member post > > > > Howdy from Austin, TX USA! > > Just joined the group and finished browsing the archives.
