contacting Sound Transform Systems

2001-12-07 by peter666c

We are looking at purchasing a new Serge. The Egres site gives
phone and fax numbers for contacting STS. Does anyone out
there know if there is an email address or web page? I would be
seeking a detailed (preferably .pdf) module list/catalog with
prices, inclduing descriptions of the function of some of the
newer or more complex gadgets. (I see there is no peak and
trough anymore, such a tragedy!)

Thanks,
Peter

HI,
Rex doesn't have an internet presence yet. The Egres site is pretty much it.
Call him on the phone. He's a wonderful person to talk to when you can get him (he likes to disappear sometimes with his blues band...at last check anyway) and will happily send you very nice print material to look over.
I've spoken to him a number of times, and believe me, you don't want to miss THAT experience!!

There's a pdf of the 1982 catalog at the Yahoo file area. Most of these
modules are still in production, or have been slightly modified.

peter: the egres site does all this and more, with current prices and deep module
descriptions (some of which are straight out of the catalog; others are submissions
from sergians world wide). john papiewski, egres head honcho, has also recently
done a series of very informative dissections of the smooth/stepped generator for
this list. for hard copies, of course, just call and ask rex to ship. he's very prompt.

good luck! and as jeff dec points out, modcan does indeed offer serge-inspired modules,
some of which are feature for feature, jack for jack akin to the serge; luckily, you can
purchase the modcan line as individual modules for those moments when you simply need
another envelope, and not a whole new panel. like now. i'm hoping to have a modcan
env by the end of the year.

good luck!
