Well I have 2 1/2 CD's worth of studio material to pick from.
I know Mike Firman can do some stuff.
What I would like to see also, but which may not happen, is Andre Stordeur's 'Serge Raga', an Indian ensemble done on the Serge. It's very clever but the only recording I have is 10 or 15 minutes long... Andre unfortunately fell into a black hole some months ago, no one's heard from him AFAIK.

I would also like to hear what John DuVal's done.... maybe he can release something.

Call me a friggin' nerd if you have to, but I keep thinking a basic Serge demonstration CD would still be a cool idea ("this is what a , for those out there more or less at square one who are curious ... and perhaps for a historical/scholarly footnote too.

johnp is correct: my original message refers to the tapes that serge produced years ago, featuring several fine
artists demonstrating the serge. i will be transfering the tapes from cassette to harddisk, cleaning them up, and offering them
for sale at minimal cost (this is a nonprofit endeavor) on compact disc . i'm led to believe that licensing will not be a problem, in that
the artists relinquished their publishing/royalty rights at the initial production of the tapes. in any event i will be contacting some
of the more well known artists (michael stearns, alvin curran, etc) to make sure that this rerelease isn't inappropriate.

regarding a new "musician's tapes": well, who's going to do it? i'm more than willing to head the project, and have enough
equipment to see the project through to the end. so, i'm offering to handle the compilation/selection of tracks and the production
of the discs (CD-R), and the distribution thereof. i would ask that a graphix person (les mizzel?) take over the cover, titles, etc.
i think using a commercial 'homebrew" CD-R labeling kit would be appropriate for the budget...

steve d used to do the analog heaven CDs, and some were quite good.

thoughts? volunteers? bueller?

this is going to be fun!

blake, your SMOGerator

thats funny you mention that piece, john...its one of the *very* few
"web grabs" i've bothered to burn to cd, and have
thought how much it ought to have a "proper" release. i've somewhat
replicated the patch on my system, but andre's
is truely par excellance! its a piece that really ought to be on the
new SMOG cd by all means.

well, maybe the "musicians tape 2001 (well, 2002 at least)" can do some
of that...
