can anyone give me a suggestion as to why there has been a veritable flood of serge systems for sale
recently? i rather considered myself to be fairly on top of the serge game if i do say so myself, and have
been following serge-related items on the web for the last 6 or 7 years. i've *never* seen anything like the
past couple months, and it doesn't look like a general analog modular sell off re: other brands. the economy?
softsynths? what the hell is going on?

in any event, this german system is a funstation comprised of a blue voice, a red control, and the tkb.
a nice setup. anything under $6K (aside from shipping) will be a steal. good luck!

Matt,
Hi. I agree it's kinda freaky, and I'm one of the ones
who have sold their systems.
My sale at least was not part of a trend, and was an
extremely difficult decision to make.
It took me twenty years to get from the first panel I
ever played to my 7 panel system, and I did not want
to part with it.
In my case, the Serge was the single most expensive
piece of gear in my entire studio, so when I got the
offer of some great film work, dependent on me using
an all-digital console and delivering in 5.1 w/ really
consistent results, I was looking at a major
re-investment, and the Serge was the only place with
any "give" at all. If it goes well, I will be able to
peplace the Serge in a couple of years, no sweat.
The problem in my case is that the very type of stuff
that I will be doing, FX/outside sounds, is the very
thing the Serge is great at, so it was a real
quandery.
I haven't really felt the pinch from the economy yet,
I have never really heard a softsynth i liked, (
although the Virus TDM, and Arturia Storm are pretty
interesting), and the only other modular I would even
consider would be a Wiard ( but I'd still buy a serge
first)
So I don't know what the deal is. Get them quick.
There may be none at all in the future.
BarryM

Barry,

Congratulations on the upcoming film work. Please keep the list posted on your progress. If these are to be commercial theater releases, direct to video, etc.

Good luck, all the best and hope you can replace that Serge soon.

Yeah, just wish I had the funds (did last year but I
always miss the boat - except for the $50 SH-5 six
years ago, which does look like it fell of the boat,
underside missing, dents everywhere, no lid, but works
fine, very durable synth). I'll take two custom
panels & TKB's to go please, hold the mustard.

Regards from the Isle of Man.

Richard.

P.s. Barry, if you know any people looking for a
location to make films, the Isle of Man may be an
option. The gov't pays something like 20 or 25% of
the budget as some kind of tax break - we get a lot of
Canadian & US productions coming here cause of this.
Anyway, let me know if you need more info.
