Music Therapy...

Music Therapy...

2001-09-16 by John Papiewski

Hi All,

Yesterday, MEME got together to jam and rehearse for a wedding we're
playing at ... they've asked us to do some fairly esoteric ambient stuff
which is what we do best.

Jamming, the hours flew by like minutes.
In between the music we also discussed our reactions to what's been
going on out there ... the pain & confusion, also genuine gratitude for
living in a country where we can almost take synth jam sessions for
granted.

It was wonderful, not as an escape, but as a reminder that we can still
do things that make us happy.

Grant made an interesting observation also, that the analog synth makers
are huddling around the 90th meridian(!)

Cheers

John P.

When are you guys going to run a recorder while you're doing this stuff so
we can HEAR some of it?

MEME has TONS of stuff on DAT and cassette, nearly five years of jam sessions
and gigs.
We do have a few CD-R's available from a few of the gigs.
We don't have our sh*t together to the point where there's a place to buy
them, they're mostly handouts & gig-sales.
I have been working s l o w l y to sell my own stuff at a consignment web
site.... if you guys would only pay me a retainer I'd happily write & crank
out noise all day instead of code..... : )
I'd love to sell some CD's piecemeal but don't want to give out my home
address, don't have a PO box yet.
Will keep U all posted.

Thinking out of the box?
Heck, my cat invented that years ago.....

Hi,

Actually Les we run a recorder (DAT) at every get-together and
performance we do. We have several "Live At" CD-Rs which we usually
sell at shows. At this point we aren't really in the business of
producing recorded media so we don't really have a marketing channel.
We do have a few plans for a "Studio" production - given the our
remote locations (three people are now in Milwaukee, three in Chicago,
and one of us has recently moved to Texas) we are trying to put in
place an ADAT exchange program to accomplish this. MEME will certainly
let this list (and the similar Wiard list) know of any of our
upcoming events and available recordings

best regards,

Hi Richard

Yes I've been getting your emails. Yes I am still interested. Have a lot of
other projects competing for time, but as long as we're in no hurry why not?
Also I found some software I had laying around all along, Soundforge or some
such, which will help some in the editing process.

The Manx is French? Surprising, to me anyway...

Thanks

John P.
