patching VC switch? (combining sequencer rows to get more steps)

patching VC switch? (combining sequencer rows to get more steps)

2008-12-17 by Carlos

Is there a way to patch a VC switch in the current m-class or with the
regular panels?

my thinking is that if I had a VC switch in combination with a pulse
divider I could send values from the sequencer or sequencer programmer
and extend the number of steps by combining rows together. (using the
clock into the pulse divider to figure out when is time to change each
row being input into the switch)

of course if there is an easier method of doing this I will like to
hear it.

you can make a vc-switch (2 in - 1 out) with an ACPR.
btw, any other ideas how to make a vc-switch with Serge modules?

the TKB vertical clock does this up to 64 steps.

Right, but any tricks to do it just with M-Class modules/sequencers?

how would you patch the ACPR so that it will automatically switch to
the other input at the end of a number of stages? would need a
constant 5 volt input to do that no? a switch just needs a pulse to
change inputs?

some vc-switches need an X volts voltage to switch between the two inputs (staying at input 2 as long as the voltage is X volts high) and not a trigger to go from input 1 to input 2.
if a switch needs a trigger to switch between its inputs then it would be a clocked switch.

I guess I am looking for a sequential switch type of device then or a
clocked switch then.

but curious what combinations of modules will give me that switching
functionality with the ACPR even if its a 5volt constant input instead
of pulse, any ideas to generate that 5 volt constant output as the
sequencer is in its second row?

inputing the sequencer clock into the pulse divider module and using the pulse divider 1/8 output into the xfade input of the ACPR?
i guess this should work...?

Re: patching VC switch? (combining sequencer rows to get more steps

that will provide one short pulse after every 8 steps of the clock and
will only change the xfade from one input to another for the duration
of the pulse.

perhaps there is no way of actually patching this and I just need to
go get a TKB if I want anything over 8 steps. life is tough.

Re: patching VC switch? (combining sequencer rows to get more steps

2008-12-17 by Skot Wiedmann

if you send the clock to the xfader control input and each row to either side of the xfader signal inputs you should get double the steps. the pattern will be A1 B1 A2 B2 A3 B3 A4 B4 etc...
you can also change the clock duty cycle for swing rhythms
