No New Members for SMOG

No New Members for SMOG

2008-11-09 by John P

Dear All,

After a year of trying, I have not been able to get my full admin status
for this group restored by Yahoo.

Therefore, as of right now, I will no longer be approving new members.
It would be a good idea to create a new group on another service, such
as Yahoo. Anyone want to step up? Your ideas are welcome.

Meantime, this email list will continue to work as it has.

Thanks

John P.

Correction: Instead of Yahoo, a better place to set up a group might be
Google.

Man, that's b.s. Anyway, Google sounds good to me!

I predominantly lurk here but I do have an interest in the group being around....I just sent
Yahoo Group support the following:

"The Serge Modular users groups is having problems that the admin cannot seem to resolve.
The admins account link is : http://profiles.yahoo.com/johnp299792

This groups is very important to a number of individuals and is relatively active. The admin is
stating that he can no longer approve new member nor can he delete spam as it comes in. He
has stated that he has contacted Yahoo Groups support and that after a year of trying he has
not been able to resolve the issue. I'm writing as a concerned member that we may lose our
archives and location of communication if this cannot be resolved. If anything can be done to
help out the admin I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you very much for any support you may be able to provide.

Dustin Withers"

I suspect if enough of us were to send messages to Yahoo's support system they might try a
bit harder. I work in IT and I can't believe this problem cannot be resolved.

I wrote back:

"Eric,

If you are to be the one to help can I please get a direct email
address for you?

Thanks,

And received:
