Couple of questions about the "Mysterious Owner" Serge

2003-02-25 by Les Mizzell

Couple of questions about the "Mysterious Owner" synth..
One the bottom right there is a panel with what looks like "Dale Evans on a Horse" and a nine key pad. What the heck is this?
You can see part of it here:
Numbers are arranged in an interesting order too:
3 6 2
9 5 3
7 1 4
(I think)
Here's a larger shot of the whole system:
Cool joysticks too. Looks like two game controller FIRE!" type buttons for the thumbs. Would assume triggers sent when pressed.
Also, there's a module dead centre middle row of the main cabinet with 6 vertical sliders and 1 horizontal slider. Identity?
Anybody got a full module list for this thing or know (...and I think one person out there *does* know...) where one can be acquired?

I have another question about this weird gizmo: what's with the funky
decorations? I thought that's what the reef is smoked for: to add
ornamentation to our instruments while they're being played. I wonder
if the Mysterious Owner is Kevin Braheny/Fortune (check out the
Mighty Serge on the files section. It has some nude paintings on two
of the top panels).

Ummm... Dale Evan's horse wasn't named 'Trigger' was it... that was
somebody elses?

I heard the joysticks are actually from a jet fighter. Press trigger =
kaboom or rattattat.

The other stuff I have no idea.
Perhaps Mysterious Owner is illiterate, and needs pictures to describe
module functions?
Anyway, they are a total gas!

Roy's horse was "Trigger". Dale's horse was "Buttermilk".

I had a good friend that owned a "Son of Trigger". Beautiful animal...

uhh...some of the graphics on this synth are quite disturbing.....

Hi,

I can't remember what all the MO said about the graphics, but MO had
very detailed reasons for a lot of the images. The only one that comes
to mind right now is that the devil (some image of a Voodoo devil I believe)
sits right over the power supply.

There is a rather spooky photo of a black-painted man adorned in weird
gear pasted over a what appears to be a photorealistic painting of the
deck of some sort of warship or wharf over the power supply, which is
in the top left corner.

In complete contrast, my one's power supply was .... missing.

The joysticks are from a B-52 Bomber. The module with all the
numbered buttons is definately something the owner made him/her
self. The whole unit with the joysticks on it appears to be all
cutom DIY stuff.

I would suggest that the keypad module is simply an array of switches, each
applying a pulse or voltage to the corresponding jack in the jack array above.
9 buttons correspond to the 9 upper jacks, and the three switches below
correspond to the lowest three jacks.

Is that horse in the photo Trigger? That might tell us something about its
function :)
