Mikado - (?)

Mikado - (?)

Hey JJ

What's new with the Mikado? Plans for production? Any price set?
Or are you guys just going to keep the prototype for yourselves??

Thanks

JP

Good Q, John. I just uploaded a new version of the Web page with my usual
pathetic progress report. Here's the gist:

8/2/02: Much has been accomplished in the last two months! Most exciting,
Jim P. showed off the prototype at the Pacific Northwest Synth-DIY
get-together in Renton, WA on 7/20/02. Some modules were not yet working,
but enough good stuff was functional as to prove the validity of the
concept and design. Pictures of the prototype are available on Jim's web
site (http://www.silcom.com/~patchell/seqproj/seqproj.html). Since the
Synth-DIY meet, Jim has fixed most of the problems that cropped up in the
first boards and is getting ready to do a new set. In the meantime, the
quantizer is still being tested, and is getting a change of scales. The
front-panel layout has been tweaked some, though that is not reflected in
the file on this site nor in the graphics above. Stay tuned!

In the past 4 days, Jim has gotten the quantizer working and is making some
tweaks based on my late feedback.

Re production.. ask Jim P. The plan is still to offer this as circuit
boards only, AFAIK.

There's no a small number of us could convince you to do a small production
run?

What might it take?

Interest noted.

The deal right now is that Jim P is neck-deep in the prototype, and has not
really got the time to consider production. Barring catastrophe, PC boards
will be available; after that, we're not sure.

Stay calm and start saving your pennies. (I'm doing the latter, but having
difficulty with the former.)

infinite patience and the market crashes have made it so i dont even see
pennies on my investments anymore. Bummer : ) hahaha

Infinite patience with Rex huh? The way John Paul II is passing out sainthoods,
maybe you're next in line! ; )

Looking over the Mikado front panel diagrams etc on the page led me to believe
that this was going to be some kind of product, not just a pcb that you'd sell me
& say 'stuff it!' : ) . The specs on the web page are very attractive, almost
enuff to get me to open my own wallet.

If the Mikdo is not going to be a product, I wonder what'd be the costs to lay
out & produce a batch of front panels. Rex does this in very small batches.
Then maybe we could sweet-talk Tim Curtis into moonlighting a batch for us.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
