serge on ebay

2002-06-05 by m. blake wilson

two items:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=880598221

(just a rox, basically, with an old style prepunched panel and laminate overlay; amazingly, the seller does not have an outrageous reserve and/or opening bid).

also, kevin lightner's pre-STS 6 PCO, Wave mult, and MIX2 panel is up again:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=878566816

amazingly, this panel is at $204 w/ 8 hours to go....unfortunately, its been up a couple times before, and i think most folks have figured out that the Buy it Now price and the Reserve are pretty much the same. however, according to my james coplin's super nifty serge module planner, this is a $2470 panel with no lead time! ;^). for those who don't know, the seller, kevin lightner, is a most excellent synth man and is most deserving of your bid.

see you,

blake

well he's had as much luck selling his panels as you, john. i think its the 3rd time its been up.

also, for some reason your post didn't have all that yahoo! sig ad spy cam crap...which is nice, b/c those things never fullly download (not like i want them to, anyway) and seem to kind of screw up my email viewing.

Absolutely true. And your stuff is current (i.e. STS-era). Oh, dude,
if only I had the dough, I'd snatch the panel with the freq. shifter
from you!! Oh, well, then I'd be on Alpo, too :) And, BTW, don't
sell yourself short! You're the owner of the Allmighty Fist of God
(KL cannot claim a feat of these proportions!).

kevin is about the most knowledgable and decent person you could ever
hope to purchase anything from. if kevin told me a piece of gear
looked or worked in a particular condition i would be glad to pay him
cash up front without ever seeing the piece because i know that it
would be exactly as he said it would be.

i agree that the price on these panels that he has been posting are
high based on current price and depreciation etc (the fact they
haven't sold shows that the current gear market is luke warm at
best). but what you don't know (i only know because of a conversation
with kevin after asking him why the price was high) is that these
aren't his panels, he is selling them on behalf of a friend who is
trying to raise money to cover his cancer treatments. so, first,
kevin isn't setting the price, it's what this guy wants. second, and
while you may or may not care, the situation is unfortunate enough
without raising a spectre of price gouging on someone as respectable
as kevin. as usual, there is generally more to things than meets the
eye.

anyhow, not to soap box (these things always take the wrong tone
electronically) but that's the situation.

Thanks for setting the record straight on this sale. I meant no disrespect
and i sure do hope that there is a quick sale. Having lost both my parents to
cancer and the attendent cost .... well, my heart goes out to that person. :
(
So, if anyone is thinking of buying.... buy Kenvins' sale first!!!!........
then buy mine ! LOL If i wasn't selling, I'd buy it. You can never have too
many Osc.
As far as the market being luke warm, I'd say it's more like stone cold.
