Re: serge on ebay

kevin is about the most knowledgable and decent person you could ever
hope to purchase anything from. if kevin told me a piece of gear
looked or worked in a particular condition i would be glad to pay him
cash up front without ever seeing the piece because i know that it
would be exactly as he said it would be.

i agree that the price on these panels that he has been posting are
high based on current price and depreciation etc (the fact they
haven't sold shows that the current gear market is luke warm at
best). but what you don't know (i only know because of a conversation
with kevin after asking him why the price was high) is that these
aren't his panels, he is selling them on behalf of a friend who is
trying to raise money to cover his cancer treatments. so, first,
kevin isn't setting the price, it's what this guy wants. second, and
while you may or may not care, the situation is unfortunate enough
without raising a spectre of price gouging on someone as respectable
as kevin. as usual, there is generally more to things than meets the
eye.

anyhow, not to soap box (these things always take the wrong tone
electronically) but that's the situation.
