"Toto, I don't think we are in Kansas anymore!"
Shouldn't we all be thankful that there are MORE modular synth makers these days that there EVER were. Isn't it great that we have all these different designs and approaches to choose from? Find the one YOU like best, that fits your needs, your esthetic from both a visual and interface design standpoint and go to town. Wiard has his approach, Rex has his, Modcan, Doepfer, MOTM, Fenix, etc all have theirs. The thing that makes the modular so compelling is that you interface with it in a tactile visceral way and thus design is a consideration. But I am a little confused why there is such a huge discussion about one guys design aesthetic over another's. To "synthesist" it is like the difference between a Fender Strat and a Gibson Les Paul; love one, hate the other or visa versa. Both are classic guitars by any standards. I own a small Serge but the Wobble Bug is one of the most compelling modules I have ever seen and at least Grant pays due credit to the Buchla module from which the idea was sourced. FWIW...
