I guess they could be made to the 1" format.

Screws into rails? I've never had a frac-rack

May be true, but what if someone else made modules that were compatible with
the Serge philosophy, yet available as individual modules?

The reason I have been asking is because I have been contemplating releasing
some of my circuits in something like the Serge format. The primary problem
I have is the limited number I could produce. On one hand I could produce a
full serge-width panel with a selection of modules as chosen by me, though
this would only have so much appeal. The other route would be to release
modules individually, though the problem with going this way is that the
number of each type would be dictated by purchases, and in small runs, this
is a pain.

I'd like to hear people's oppinions, here. How many list members would be
interested? (I'm just feeling the waters here - I'm not expecting anyone to
commit!)

You don't say! The positive side is that for some of us, our R&D doesn't
have to be justified by our returns.

Some redesigning would partially aleviate the problem. There is too much
hand wiring involved, and im my experience, that is the main labor cost.
