You'll be fine with the fire wire.. Fire wire, usb , parallel and a 
networked printer are all basically similar in the sense that they 
are all ports once they are established .. Establish the port using 
your epson drivers then use that port with the rip.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
