You've got the general idea. Red and blue channels are bits (convert to binary)
determining which ink(s) are to be used. Green channel determines the "value".
It's completely general but works well for calib page.

It's even more complicated with the 10 ink printers where the orange and green strip are both represented by R255 G255 B255 in the red channel, but for these colors the blue channel strip changes to RGB127 (orange) and RGB191 (green).
