Model 38 demo anyone?

2008-08-17 by celery5555

I'm curious to hear the the model 38 in action. Does anyone have one of these yet? If so
would you mind posting a demo somewhere?

Thanks.

Matt

Is there any particular application you want to hear? It's a standard ADSR... I don't really know what could distinguish its sound significantly from others.

I'm mainly interested in hearing how 'snappy' the decay is when
applied to the cutoff of a lowpass filter. Correct me if I'm wrong,
but different filter designs will have different response times (e.g.
a vactrol-based filter will be slower than a non-vactrol one, right?),
so I realize that the 'snappiness' isn't necessarily due to the ADSR
itself, however, it seems to me that not all ADSRs are made the same.
In particular, I have heard both the Doepfer A-141 and the Cwejman
ADSR-VC2 control the cutoff of the Cwejman MMF-1, and the VC2 appears
to have a nicer, i.e. tighter/faster/snappier, decay than the A-141.
I'm curious to know how the Model 38 compares with the VC2---not in
terms of features but in terms of perceived speed.

Thanks for your response.
