Model 10 Opinions

Model 10 Opinions

2007-10-09 by paradigmshiftbeats

This is one module I haven't read much about. Would some users of this
module be so kind as to provide your views on what you like/dislike,
unique applications, etc?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I definately like the fact that you can do super slow modulations with
it (either as an LFO or Envelope) - or super fast.

Some may think this kind of trivial, but I also like the main output
being a "mult" ie: there are 2 output sockets that give you precisely
the same thing, meaning that you don't have to employ an external
multiple. Being able to control the main output polarity and level is
also great.

I have also been able to use it simultaneously as a sequence trigger
source and as an envelope for the notes of the sequence. That's pretty
cool.

Adam

My Model 11 Feedback

2007-10-16 by analogassailant

Well as mentioned on the Plan B site the filter can get aggressive but
still remains musical, by that I mean it's grungy and gnarly sounding
not shrieky and irritating, others have described it as "tube like"
and I feel that's an accurate description. Of course warm washy sweeps
can be had if one tones down on the FM and feedback.

Speaking of FM this is such a great feature to have (the only other
filter I own that has this is the Sherman filter bank) as it really
opens up the timbre possibilities from just being a `typical' bandpass
sound. Cranking the FM knob up with my source material produced a nice
chunky "burnt watery" sound
lol
I know what the hell does that mean
right? Well just try it you'll like it, slam everything you can into it.

I am a huge fan of bandpass filters and I have quite a few (dedicated
and multi) from various manufacturers and I have found that I
gravitate towards the ones with vactrols in them. Most bandpass
filters are clones of the Korg PS-3100 to some extent and I can safely
say that the model 11 stands on its own as being quite unique both in
features and sound. Indeed the model 11 is in a dimension of its own
when compared to its brother, the Model 12's bandpass, that I have
sitting right beside it.

I think I will stop here since I have only spent the day with it but I
thought I would share my initial impression as a nudge for those who
might be on the fence about purchasing one.
