You can feed it anything, well...not wall current or anything...but
the clock input drives an internal buffer )NPN transistor that's only
giving the microp 5 volt signals), and there's a diode inthere tha
stps negative voltage form making it's way in there as well. You're
covered.
As a matter of reference, all of our inputs on all of our modules are
buffered and protected. There's nothing going into critical parts of
any circuit that'll abuse their input limits.
