Re: Plan B MOTM style modules

2006-09-06 by (i think you can figure that out)

Correct - the MOTM style faceplates were killing us as far as
cost. Try $26 per unit at a lot size oof 50 faceplates vs. about
$3.50 per for a standard model 15 spot annodized plate. Neither
Mike Brown or I felt we could justify what would have been easily
a $75 price increase form one format to another. So,
unfortunately, while I'm not prepared to say it will never happen, if
it doesn. it's going to be after the Plan B line is established and
not still in the upstart mode. Right now the cost of faceplates
would kill me.....$10K for 50 faceplartes, of one model type...can't
do that right now!

As far as PCBs only, I am prepared to say that will not happen on
Plan B goods. There's two reasons for this, the most important
of which it introduces warranty issues and may flood the market
with clones which would effect the resale value of Plan B
modules built by us.

(stuffed) with exception to panel-format specific parts or as a pcb
only. My only concern would be that it runs on +/-15v so I can
power it right with my MOTM modules. Maybe this is something
that can be offered by Peter in the future? If it was PCB only with
a parts list and PCB legend and wiring diagram, us DIY folks
could figure out the rest on our own mostly. I wouldn't mind to
own a few designs but I am not going to buy another Euro rack
just for them when all of my focus is on my large cabinet format.

works for the near future? Thanks, Harry D
