They struck me as similar to my synthesized Mellotron programs - they are "'tronnish" and they sit in a track in a similar way, but they don't sound like either the Strawberry flute or the IanM flute to me.

Were they Mellotron flutes, ....or imitation Mellotron flutes?

Happy Holidays to all!!!
I was watching TV this morning and saw a Glad Plastic ware commercial and I heard Mellotron flutes as the soundtrack. Has any one seen this?

Does anyone know if they use a Mellotron?I was listening to a few cuts
off the web today and their flute sounded Mellotronic.

it's definitely samples.
chuck van zyl plays them.

chuck is the host of the long-running "star's end" space
music radio program here in philly, and puts on the series
of concerts known as "the gatherings" with help from his
partner in MIOT, art cohen, and jeff towne from "echoes".

i think it's the pinder cdrom he uses; not sure what sampler
it is that he puts them in though. might be an emu.

it was for one of chuck's "gatherings" concerts that both
i and jimmy moore loaned RMI [radio massacre international]
a pair of m400s in, i think, may of 2004... yup:
http://thegatherings.org/51gather.html
[i also loaned duncam my ems synthi-aks for the show]

a couple years ago [december 2004] chuck had me put on
a "mellotron workshop" here in philly, and with TONS of
invaluable help from lots of generous members of this
mailing list [professor jerry, ken leonard, jimmy moore,
gino wong, brad shuman] we covered more ground tron-wise
than i think the audience could digest [like a thanksgiving
dinner of tron information? ...to analogize it]. thanks
again to all of you who helped out...

see:
http://thegatherings.org/workshop1204.html

i have seen chuck a few times in the past couple months
and he has mentioned that he will be wanting me to provide
a mellotron [or two] for some shows in the 2007 series.
i'll make sure the list is aware of anything that comes
up... jeff
