Nearfest: Mr Hackett PLUS Nektar

For me, the real treat of NEARfest will be Nektar -- first performance in
25+ years. I saw them in 1974 -- stunning musicianship, unparalleled light
show, and some of the best prog of this era (...remember "remember the
future"?). Mr. Synth, Larry Fast, is suppose to join them. Any others on
this list going? I'm hauling my butt out from San Fran to cheery Trenton
NJ to catch this show. I've got a few extra tickets to unload -- my cost
-- if anyone's interested. The tix for the 2-day festival sold out in 20
minutes in March, thus it appears the market for prog of yesteryear is
alive and well.

Hello All, I'm crawling out of lurk-mode for a bit. I had supper with Larry
and his wife recently when visiting Lucent Tech,NJ on business trip.
He definitely will be performing at that Nektar fest in Trenton .

....Speaking of which, "Synergy" has a new compilation of older tunes,
called "Reconstructed Artifacts". Several more pieces of music feature
Mellotron samples(nicely-done) that never had orig. Mellotron on them.

You'll recognize the CD cover,as it harks to old technology (Edison Battery
Meter ) on cover and inside notes. Larry (and I) always remember our
forebears of technology. Besides,Larry/I are members of Edison Hist. Site.

I'm trying to convince him to do another retro work consisting of tributes
to NYC (as in "Metropolitan Suite" ) and old boatmen's songs from
NJ's two towpath Morris and Delaware/Raritan Canals...

Only Larry's first LP in 1975 "Electronic Realizations for Rock Orchestra"
featured the one-time appearance of his M400 . I'm trying to gently and
diplomatically persuade/convince Larry to get his machine out of storage
and use it again......

Let me know how the concert will be , Bob. In the meantime, yours-truly
is gearing-up to complete the long-awaited finish to "Julia" . Sometime.....
Cheers, Jerry Retro Korb

good grief! that *is* a long way! think you'll make it to progwest in
november? we've got the new salley streetly classic tapeset........ (funny,
that sounds like a haberdashery product for some reason).

sonic youth were fab. no 'tron, but if they thought it were possible, I think
they might, one day. there's a danger that it would get a fender broken over
it though.
