VC - Be Not Nobody

VC - Be Not Nobody

2002-06-18 by ceccles_ca

My 13 year old son has shown NO interest in music until this week.
He bought his first music CD.... Vanessa Carlton - Be Not Nobody.
Good tunes, clean production and great orchestra arrangements.

Vanessa says her Dad was/is a big fan of Yes and Pink Floyd. My
first impression was that it is a "me too" recording with some catchy
tunes. After listening from start to finish, I felt like I needed to
tell somebody about this! It's nice to see a talented musician /
songwriter / singer get some airplay. Sometimes the record companies
slip-up and something good sneaks out.

...and what's this got to do with Mellotrons? Well...there is a
familiar majestic quality to some of the string arrangements... It's
a real string section though.

Hey there,
I'm also a Vanessa Carlton fan. I am fortunate to use a lot of real strings in my work and there is nothing like the real thing. Real strings make the use of the tron that much more special in that once you score for real strings you realize exactly how different your arrangement reacts to real strings vs fake strings vs tron. Hence, I absolutely hate sampled strings with the exception of the new Strings ReFill for Reason 2.0. String phrases as REX files is a great idea and the folks at Propellerheads did a great job of it.
